Obituary for Mason Crawford

Mason A. Crawford

January 10, 1928 - December 31, 2021

Mason Allen Crawford, born January 10, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Elizabeth (nee Ferrier) and Preston Mason Crawford, passed away the morning of December 31, 2021. Mason spent much of his youth in the Masonic Children’s Home and graduated from Patton Trade School, both in Elizabethtown, PA and left school in 1946 to enlist in the Marines during WWII-was honorably discharged in 1948, then obtained his diploma sometime later. 

Following his discharge, he moved to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where he married his childhood sweetheart, Joy Davis. From there, they moved to the Philadelphia area, where the employment rate was higher. He found employment almost immediately and worked at quite a few different jobs before obtaining a position as Foreman with C.O. Struse & Son, a large masonry firm in Philadelphia.

In April of 1959, he moved his growing family into the house he built for them on Laurel Road, Southampton, PA, where they became longtime residents. In 1965, he founded his own business, Crawford Caulking Company, which he operated along with his wife, until his retirement in 1993. He and his wife traveled extensively all over the world after they retired.

In later years, they moved to Southampton Estates in Southampton, PA not far from their home on Laurel Road, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. They were so happy there with all their new friends as well as their many longtime friends from the neighborhood that moved there over the years. 

He was a member of F.&A.A. Lodge #806, a Shriner, member of the LuLu Shrine Club, the Scottish Rite, the MHPSA Alumni Association, the Southampton Square Club and more recently the Youth Advisory Committee for the Masonic Children’s Home. 

He leaves behind his three children; daughters, Jo (Crawford) Malia wife of Ed Malia and Sandi Joy (Crawford) McCool and Son David Preston Crawford and wife Ellen Crawford as well as five grandchildren, Kevin J. Malia, David P. Malia, Ben C. McCool, Luke C. McCool and Shannon C. McCool and one great grandson, Mason Reed Malia.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 6-9 pm and again on Tuesday, January 11, 2021 from 10-11 am at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 W. County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 333 W. County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
